Thrapston Town were unlucky to lose this game against the
Generals, who scored 2 good first half goals.
This was the third game between the 2 clubs, with honours even so far.
The game started at a quick pace with Tom going close early on. Some good attacking
breakaways from the Generals saw them score a great goal midway through the first
half. Some very good defending from Jake & Adam in the first half, but a
slight lapse saw the Generals score a good second goal.
Peter & Tom were combining well up front & both were unlucky not to score
before half time. Half time we went in 0-2 down.
We brought on Fergus, John & Dominic for the second half & with Fergus
making some excellent runs down the wing, we started to put the pressure on the
Generals.
Half way through the 2nd half, Peter won the ball on the left wing in our half & went
on one of his strong runs towards goal, & finished with style into the top
right corner.
With time running out we all pushed forward & we won a penalty, which Fergus
stepped up to take. He hit a hard shot which the generals keeper did well to
save.
We continued to all push forward in search of the equalizer & left a big
gap at the back which the Generals saw, & a breakaway from them looked certain
to be the killer goal, but their striker blasted over the bar.
We pushed the Generals right to the end in what was another great battling game
to watch. Unlucky I thought to lose this game but another excellent team performance
by all.
MOM Dominic Warren, Excellent defensive play. Well done.
