Weekley Rovers Wolves 0 v Thrapston Town

Another chance
to try a different line up this week, with 4 across the middle
we hoped to be very adventurous in our attacking play. Straight
from the K.O though it looked like we weren’t comfortable
with the formation but we persevered and began to put the
Wolves under pressure. From a surging run by Scott the ball
found it’s way to Max inside the box and with a little
shuffle of the feet to beat the defender and shot the ball
finished in the Wolves net 0 – 1. With Charlie in control
at the back, Harry and Kyran were bossing the middle and
with Liam and Scott bombing down the flanks surely it wouldn’t
be long before we added to our score. Alistair on for Harry.
The Wolves were now under a lot of pressure but they held
firm even though their box at times resembled a pinball machine!
Half time 0 – 1. 2 nd half: Jack on for Max. Joe on
for Charlie.
With the aid of the slope the Wolves came back
into the game at the start of the half but with Alistair
surging down the right wing and Jack working hard up front
we were always posing problems for their defence. Charlie
on for Kyran. A change in formation, with the Wolves trying
to catch us on the break we went with 2 at the back. Max
on for Alistair. From some good build up play Max turned
and shot into the corner of the Wolves net to make it 0 – 2.
Harry on for Liam. Only one team in it now as the 2 nd goal
seemed to knock the stuffing out of the Wolves. From some
good work by Harry Jack picked the ball up and ran at the
Wolves defence and hit a great shot from the edge of the
box to make it 0 – 3 .
Final score 0 – 3.
Not
one of our better displays today but we tried something different
and still came away with a 0 – 3 win and another clean
sheet! Still only 2 goals conceded this season, well done.
