Today was our last game before the Xmas break so we were
looking for a good send off against the Wildcats. With many
games cancelled due to the weather we were fortunate that
our game was still on. Being the 11.00 K.O the earlier games
had taken their toll on the pitch and the centre was a bit
of a mud bath so the game plan was to get the ball wide and
use the width. We tore at the Wildcats straight from the
off and put their defence under immense pressure and it was
not long before they buckled. From some good close control
in the box, Max put us 1 – 0 up. A couple of minutes
later after some good approach play, Max makes it 2 – 0.
Then the goal of the game, after a move involving every player,
Scott (on for Liam) finishes at the far post after a great
cross from Alistair. 3 – 0. The Wildcats goal is now
under siege and only some fine saves from their keeper keeps
the score at half time down to 3 – 0.
2nd Half. At the start of the 2nd half we wasted a few good
chances to add to the score. The Wildcats at times had 5
players in their penalty box as the attacks rained in on
their goal. An o/g makes the score 4 – 0. Max then
completes his hat-trick to make it 5 – 0. The build
up play is some of the best you’ll see from any team
at this level and the Wildcats can’t live with us.
Charlie and Joe are bringing the ball out from the back,
Liam, Scott and Alistair are sending some great crosses into
the box for the forwards and midfield to run onto, a joy
to watch. Max scores his 4th to make it 6 – 0. Then
from one of the Wildcats only attacks of the game Kern pulls
off a fantastic save only for the ball to bounce off a forward’s
knee and into our net 6 – 1. Scott then completes the
scoring after some good work from Harry to make the final
score 7 – 1.
Well played everyone we turned on the style today with some
lovely passing football.
