Thrapston began brightly, having plenty of the
ball in the first ten minutes but without creating too many
chances. Rangers took the lead after 15 minutes, scoring straight
from a corner, and could have widened the lead if their striker
had finished his chances. Thrapston kept the pressure at the
other end and were finally rewarded after a defensive mix
up allowed Josh Catchpole to sneak in for his first. Half
time 1 - 1.
Thrapston's hopes were dashed straight after
the break when Ringstead scored their second and again could
have had further goals had they not missed their chances.
Thrapston stepped up their game midway through the half and
were rewarded with a penalty after some good dribbling skills
in the box by Jason Styles. Josh Catchpole made no mistake
from the spot kick. Almost immediately Ringstead were back
in front, Thrapston's keeper completely missing a clearance
to leave the Rangers striker with an open goal. To Thrapston's
credit they didn't give in and with five minutes remaining
Josh Catchpole scored his third to make the score 3 - 3. Ringstead
weren't finished though and with minutes remaining broke and
forced a corner which the duly converted after a goal mouth
scramble to break the home side's hearts. Final score 3 -
4.
