This week's game against the prolific Kettering
Generals Blue team was incredibly hard and very physical (6
of our players needed attention during the game). However,
despite Ethan being peppered with shots during the first 15
minutes, only 6 found their mark. His command of the defence
helped keep the score down well and our attempts to move on
the break through some excellent play by Jack and Craig so
nearly paid off with shots from Jordan and Harry. Thomas marshalled
our troops and kept things very level-headed from a makeshift
defence.
Our new tactics this week started to pay dividends after
half-time, with much of the pressure coming from moves by
Matthew and Lucaas, back on after a first minute injury. Matthew
was then a casualty for a while as Lucaas scored an unfortunate
and rather spectacular own goal. Josh came on for Matthew
and started some excellent attacks but with no end result
as tiredness once again set in. However, this week we battled
in their half right up to the final whistle-something to be
proud of against such illustrious opposition. It's beginning
to take real shape and every single player should be proud.
MOM Harry-he used his new-found energy to great effect this
week and starred at the heart of the midfield.
