An eagerly awaited clash this week between two
of the top teams at this age. All our previous league meetings
with the Generals have resulted in draws so this was going
to prove a good test for both sides. The 1st half was a bit
like a game of chess with both sides trying to suss each other
out hence the fact there were not too many chances. With the
Yellows using the full width of the pitch to play, the Generals
started to get a little stretched towards the end of the 1st
half. After some good work from Liam, Max found himself in
space to shoot but the Generals Keeper pulled off a great
save to keep the score level. At the other end Kern also made
a good save rushing from his line to save at the feet of a
Generals forward. At the end of a very tight 1st half 0 –
0.
2nd Half. Jack on for Max. The 2nd half started much the
same as the 1st with both sides not giving an inch. Then from
a goal kick we lost possession in midfield and a General’s
forward nipped in and hit an unstoppable shot into our net
0 – 1. We now had to go in search of an equaliser. Max
back on for Jack and Kyran on for Scott. As we pushed forward
the game opened up with chances at both ends. Both keepers
pulled off some great saves but try as we might it wasn’t
going to be our day and the match finished 0-1. Our 1st defeat
this season but a very good performance in an extremely tight
match. Well done to both sides in providing a very entertaining
game!
Thanks to the parents for their usual great support.
