Corby Kingswood Kestrels 7 v Thrapston Town
1
If Football was a pudding, then the Thrapston
boys took a double helping today. Against a quality Corby
side, everyone needs to perform and the Yellows were lacking
today in several departments.
The first half, although fairly even in the middle of the
park ended with Corby being 2 up courtesy of a cool finish
and a Thrapston OG. Yes there were chances for the Town, but
each were squandered without really threatening the Kingswood
Keeper.
At 2-0 down then, still in it ? Not a chance, Second to the
ball doesn’t win games, and combined with some slick
Corby passing, and static Thrapston central defence, the goals
kept on coming. 2 more OG’s a superb drive from 35yds,
and 2 others I’d rather not remember.
There was a consolation coolly nodded in by Devante Hodgson,
and some other chances that were ‘given up’, but
today the spoils went to a Corby side who sit deservedly at
the top of the league.
This is a game we were not expected to win and didn’t.
We will be expected to get the 3 points next week but will
only do so if we erase this one from our memory, and rekindle
the desire to be first to every ball.
