Thrapston made hard work of maintaining their
100% start to the season against the very spirited 10 players
of Weekley.
Thrapston always held the ascendancy in this game, creating
plenty of chances, but preferring far too often the spectacular
when a more considered finish would have sufficed. When called
upon to defend resolutely, Thrapston were too often, too casual
which always gave Weekley hope of getting something on the
break.
An own goal and a hatrick from Ryan Caller accounted for
the Thrapston tally of four and a very late consolation goal
for Weekley was fully deserved for the way they never gave
in.
If Thrapston want to maintain their fantastic start to the
season they will need to play much better than this –
defensively they need to concentrate and remain sharp; the
midfield need to show greater composure and the forwards finishing
needs the killer instinct.
Well played William Gadsby in goal who although with little
to do pulled off a couple of fine saves and his progress in
goal has been excellent.
