With Thrapston only needing a point from their last two games, it was always going to be a tough game against Ringstead who still have a chance of winning the league. Thrapston looked off the pace in the opening few minutes, probably down to the fact they hadn’t played in five weeks! Ringstead went close several times during the opening ten minutes, but Thrapston’s defence held out. Thrapston started to get into the game with Jedd Whiteman and Jason Styles having shots on goal. Half time 0 – 0
Thrapston started the second half with a positive start with Josh Catchpole, Jedd Whiteman and George Gardener linking up well. But it was Ringstead who took the lead following a freak own goal from Ryan Gavin. Unfortunately Ryan was unable to get out of way from Josh Catchpole’s goal line clearance and hit Ryan on the arm and went in!
Thrapston continued to play a little scrappy, but realized they needed to up their game in search of an equalizer. George Gardener went close after his spectacular effort rebounded back off the bar. Jedd Whiteman almost got his head to a great free kick by Josh Catchpole, but was just inches away from equalizing. With the time ticking away and Thrapston not really getting the rub of the green, Ryan Gavin was sent off for something he said to the referee.
Final score Ringstead 1 – 0 Thrapston.
With one game left and still only needing a point to win the league, it’s now down to the lads to show what they’re made off to cross that finishing line! – Keep the faith
