At last we’ve done it!
On the last game of the season and Thrapston still needing that elusive point, the lads traveled to Earls Barton for the second time this season. Earls Barton although bottom of the league proved to be a difficult side to breakdown and played well in long periods of the game, especially their front two. The home team took the lead after Thrapston defence failed to clear a long ball. But the lads kept their heads and continued to play good football with Ryan Gavin, Jason Styles and George Gardener battling well. On the half hour mark Jason Styles chased a long ball and then coolly finished making the half time score 1 – 1.
With Thrapston only 40 mins away from the league title the lads raised their game and started competing for every ball as if their lives depended on it. Brett Manchett, a first half sub, played extremely well at left back, making important interception on numerous occasions. Thrapston dominated the second period but failed to score as Earls Barton held out. Final score 1 – 1.
A big thank you goes out to Joe Baxter and Sam Nolan, who both were unlucky not to get a run out.
Well done to all that took part this season, as I’ve said before – you get out of Football what you put in.
Congratulations – Awesome.
