After last week’s cancellation the team were fired up and ready to go, despite the sub zero temperature and the heavy, muddy surface. Both teams started strong and it was end to end stuff for ten minutes, neither side finding enough to score the all important first goal. Braeden ran non stop attacking and defending, and Ryan displayed some real skill in and around the penalty area. The stale mate was broken with a fine goal scored by Jack Peet, and we finished the half narrowly ahead. Chris started the second half with a crunching but fair tackle which really set the scene for the next fifteen minutes and it wasn’t long before Daniel scored a well taken goal to take us two nil up. Kettering came back and snatched a goal, but this seemed to spur us on, Bram defended bravely and provided many opportunities for attack. Jack Reed made some good runs and some crucial tackles. Following some good running, Kyle managed to score the most elegant goal of the game, a wonderful lob over the goalies head. At three one up the game seemed well won, but an injury to one of the Kettering players left them with only four players. In a sporting gesture Braeden agreed to go in goal for Kettering and did a good job making several saves. In the last few minutes of the game Jack Peet sealed the victory with another well taken goal. A great game played in good spirits, our man of the match was Jack Peet for two great goals and a fine show of stamina in difficult conditions.
