On a chilly morning & a sticky pitch, we kicked off uphill. The early exchanges from both teams were scrappy, but after 5 mins or so, we did start to try to push forward with some good passing & early chances for Peter, who hit a couple of shots which tested the Tigers keeper early on.
The Tigers had dug in deep of late & this was showing, as on many occasions our passing game was being frustratingly broken down by strong defending from the Tigers. They were closing us down quickly & our lads could not perform as we know they can. Half time came with the score a rather disappointing 0-0.
Jake came on for Kyle & the half time team talk appeared to have worked, as we pushed forward from the whistle.
Great runs from Tom & Adam were finding holes in the Tigers defense, & Peter was finding space to cause the Tigers defense problems.
Then came the goal, Tom picked up the ball in the centre of the pitch & slotted a sublime pass through the defense to the unmarked Peter, who took a couple of touches, composed himself in front of goal, & let fly with a great shot into the roof of the net.
This goal lifted our lads who started to play with a bit more confidence, & further chances for Adam, Jake & Tom were only kept out by desperate Tigers defending.
The Tigers did get through on a couple of occasions but met the wall of Matthew & Aiden who comfortably dealt with any pressure.
So all in all, a better performance as the game went on, & with every game Rob & myself can see the knowledge & experience of every player is improving greatly.
That’s it for this year, Rob & Steve would like to wish all the Players & parents a very Merry Christmas & a happy new year.
Well done Blue’s for sticking to the task & getting a deserved win.
MOM: Peter Beverley for great running & a well taken goal.
