Corby Kingswood Kestrels 3 v Thrapston Town Blue
2
Thrapston Blue deserved at least a draw in this pulsating match against a good Corby Kingswood Kestrels side. Thrapston dominated the first half with some good passing football but somehow went in at the break 1-0 down. Blues keeper parrying a speculative Kestrels shot and a Kestrels striker stabbed the ball home to open the scoring.
Blues started the second half as they finished the first and drew level when Joseph Wright slotted home the rebound from his saved penalty, a result of a harsh handball decision against the Kestrels defender.
Kestrels again pulled in front with an almost repeat of the first goal but Blues didn’t stay 2-1 down for long as George Peet made it 2-2 just after the re-start.
With 2 minutes remaining on the clock a second harsh penalty decision proved the decider this time against Blues with the penalty taker again finishing after the initial penalty had been saved.
As Thrapston pushed forward holes began to appear at the back and Tom Stoker pulled off the save of the season stopping a certain Kestrels goal late on.
