Our 1st league game since November saw us up against top of the table Ise Lodge. The early stages of the game were very tight with Thrapston just about shading it on possession and chances created. The back 4 of Charlie, Joe, Curtis and Liam were looking like a solid unit and the midfield of Scott, Connor, Harry and Jack were creating a good supply line for Max and Dean up front. Some nice football on the right involving Scott and Harry and the ball fell to Dean who beat his marker with ease and hit a great shot that the keeper couldn't hold and Max following up tapped in the rebound. 1 - 0. We could have gone further ahead as we were now on top but a succession of near misses let Ise off the hook and from their 1st real attack Charlie was harshly judged to have committed a foul in the box and from the resulting penalty Ise equalised. Andrew on for Scott. With Ise now back in the game it was end to end stuff and just before half time Ise took the lead after a fortunate bounce put them through on goal and their centre forward finished sweetly to make the Half time score 1 - 2.
2nd Half. Hayden on for Liam. Kern on for Luke.
It was time to see what we were made of. With the game very tight and both teams playing some neat and tidy football it was hard to see who would end up winners.
Ise went close on a couple of occasions and only a couple of last ditch tackles from Curtis kept us in the game.We kept on pressing in search of the equaliser and from a hand ball inside the Ise box we were awarded a penalty, up stepped Joe to dispatch the ball into the back of the net 2 - 2.
Time was now running out in a game we had to win. Scott on for Andrew. With Thrapston now getting on top we forced a succession of corners and from a superb delivery from Scott, Joe rose majestically to head the winner. Final Score 3 - 2.
A truly great game with a great finish, we showed what we were made of today, a display full of character.
Well done everybody. A massive thanks to the parents and friends for their fantastic support as always and to Anthony for reffing.
