In perfect conditions for football in was a case of top verses bottom at Chancery Lane. After a great win away from home last week Thrapston started the game four points clear at the top. With a slight change in personnel at the back, with Jacob Sanders playing in defence, Thrapston took an early lead with Josh Wesby coolly lobbing the advancing goalkeeper. The home side then increased their lead with Jason Styles scoring following some good build up play from Josh Catchpole and Jedd Whiteman. Jason Styles then scored his second after the Great Oakley defence failed to clear the ball. Great Oakley were then reduced to ten men after half an hour for foul and abusive language. Thrapston further increased their advantage when Josh Catchpole played a neat ball for Josh Wesby to slot home his second of the game and Thrapston’s fourth. Half time 4-0 to the home side.
With a couple of changes at half time, Sam Nowlan for Joe Baxter and Brett Manchette for Matty Wright, Thrapston were quick to increase their lead with Sam Nowlan scoring after a great through ball by Jedd Whiteman. With Great Oakley giving Thrapston’s back four little trouble, Thrapston continued to dominate the game with Jason Styles getting his hatrick after some good work by George Gardner. Jason’s hatrick was applauded by the coach as this was just rewards for his consistent contribution in previous matches. With ten minutes left Peter Whight was put upfront and nearly scored, with his powerful shot being well saved by the Great Oakley goalkeeper. Jedd Whiteman finally got on the score sheet with a good finish from 18 yards and with good pressure from the Thrapston’s players Great Oakley scored an own goal, making the final score 8-0 to Thrapston.
