This weeks game against Weekley Rovers Juventus was always going to be a tough one, & we soon found ourselves 1-0 down. But Thrapston Town Blues dug deep & the early minutes were 2 teams canceling each other out. Some good passing between Tom & Peter led to Peter moving past a couple of Weekley players to hit a shot just wide of the mark. Some more great passing from Thrapston put pressure on Weekley to win a corner. Weekley defended the corner well & passed the ball smoothly from their own area all the way down to Thrapstons to hit a shot that was well saved by Aiden. Almost immediately another shot was well saved by Aiden again.
A corner was then won by Weekley & Thrapston defended well, but the ball broke loose for a Weekley to take a shot to make it 2-0. Soon after, some more good work from Thrapston led to Peter hitting a great shot just wide again. Weekley were starting to push hard & one of their players found some room to run from the half way line towards the Thrapston area & hit a powerful shot into the top corner. 3-0 at H/T.
Tom & Adam were replaced by Dom & Matthew. Straight from the kick off Weekley attacked & another shot was well saved by Aiden. Then Thrapston got their game together & some nice passing found Peter in space for him to hit a great shot across goal to go in off the post. 3-1.
This rattled Weekley who again pushed hard & a Weekley player rounded Aiden & tapped into the open net.
A Weekley throw in was picked up by Peter who used pace & strength to dribble the ball towards goal & hit a good shot from just outside the area into the net to make it 4-2.
Again, Weekley produced some good passing moves to hit another great shot that Aiden could do nothing about.
Kyle came off for Tom to come back on, as Weekley kapt on pressing for more goals, & more great saves from Aiden kept them out.
A big goal kick from Aiden was gathered up by Tom who hit a good shot towards goal that deceived the Weekley keeper & found the bottom corner to make it 5-3.
A great 2nd half performance was capped by a MOM award for Fergus who ran tirelessly the whole game.
Well done Blues.
