Blues were unlucky not to take a share of the spoils after a stirring second half performance against one of the form sides in the league.
The first half performance was the traditional lacklustre one from Blues. Kites took the lead within the first few minutes and but for 2 outstanding pieces of defending by Sam Walker could have had 3. As half time approached though poor Blues marking let Kites in to make it 2.
In the second half Blues matched Kites in all departments with Joseph Wright asked to play out of position covering every blade of grass, Sam Walker resolute in defence and Matthew Sharpe probing from midfield. Blues deservedly pulled one back when Harley Boddington was fouled in the area. Matthew Sharpe stepped up to stroke the resultant spot kick into the corner.
The best move of the match should have resulted in the Blues equalizer when Joseph Wright picked the ball up in his own half beat two defenders before a knocking a perfect slide rule pass to Boddington with only the keeper to beat. Unfortunately the keeper forced it wide.
