Volta FC 2 v Thrapston Town Yellow 4

At last we manage to get a few days without rain so we can play our long overdue Quarter final game against F.C Volta. On an excellent surface there was no excuse for the Yellows not to play their passing game. We started off a little ring rusty but soon started to control the game. Following some good work down the left from James and Liam, Dean pounced to put us into a 0 - 1 lead. After some good pressure and possession, Dean scored his and our second with a great curling shot into the roof of the net. 0 - 2. With us now in control it looked like we would go on and totally dominate but credit to Volta who carried on plugging away and from a long ball over the top of our defence they got back into the game 1 - 2.

Charlie on for James. Half time 1 - 2.

 

2nd Half. Josh on for Scott, Hayden on for Andrew. With the wind now behind us, all we had to do was keep passing well and we would finish Volta off, but they weren't done yet and from another long ball behind the defence they snatched a shock equaliser 2 - 2. We needed to get back on top soon and almost straight from the restart Max hit a great shot that smacked against the Volta upright.Was it going to be our day? Volta had only had 2 shots and had scored from them both! Connor and Harry then started to get the midfield ticking again and Josh started to get more of the ball down the right. From a corner on the left by Liam, Dean netted again to get a well deserved hat trick and make the score 2 - 3. Dean wasn't finished yet however and following some more good build up play scored his and our fourth to put the game out of sight.

Final score 2 - 4.

 

Not our best performance of the season but a good result. Some good possession in the 1st half but it showed that this was our 1st game for over a month.
