A really tough game today in very windy conditions saw us continue our good form of late by beating Aztecs 1 - 0 in a very tight game played in excellent spirit. With the wind and the slope behind us in the 1st half we tried to take advantage of the conditions but even though most of the game was played in the Aztecs half we couldn't capitalise as we kept over hitting the ball. With Kern in goal a bystander we continued to put the pressure on the Aztecs defence. Josh on for Harry. With Scott switching inside and Josh playing wide on the right using his pace to get beyond the last defender surely it would only be a matter of time before we scored and from a good ball forward Max and Dean went for the same ball and collided but as the ball fell Max turned and unleashed a rocket of a shot that screamed into the Aztec net.
Half time 0 - 1.
2nd Half. In a tactical switch we went with 1 upfront and a 5 man midfield to try and deal with the predicted onslaught as we were now playing uphill and against the wind.
James on for Dean. Luke on for Kern. Aztecs went in search of an equaliser using the condition to the maximum but the midfield of Connor, Scott, Josh, Jack and Liam were doing a great job not letting Aztec settle on the ball, the defence of James, Joe, Curtis and Charlie were dealing superbly with the high ball so much so that Luke in goal didn't have a real shot to save as he marshalled his defence superbly under immense pressure due to the conditions. Dean on for Max, Harry on for Josh. With time now running out Aztecs pushed forward leaving gaps at the back that we were unlucky not to capitalise on. Final Score. Aztecs 0 TTJFC 1.
A very good battling performance in a game controlled by the conditions, again we showed some real character to grind out a result against good strong opposition.
