I really don’t know where to begin.
Your weekly commentator being lost for words is not a regular thing, but when you are so proud of a collective teams achievements throughout the season, it can bring a little tear to the eyes.
Today Thrapston won the Division 2 title, deserved, almost definitely, earned, even more so, celebrated, yes.
Todays squad of 15, travelled to the lane, in search of that 1 point that was needed.
They were not going to take anything lightly, and with the draining heat of the sun, the 4-3-3 formation took to the field.
I am not going to go through the play by play mode, but summarise the statistics of the day.
Another hat trick from Devante Hodgson – his 5th of the season.
A great turn and finish from Romello Hodgson
Another from Luke Rivett, arguably playing his best football of the season.
A 20 yd belter from Sam Gallagher – immense in midfield today from a clever knock back from Tom Alsop
And (2) the first ever competitive goals from Kyle Oliver, - Being shot by the team manager paintballing yesterday, didn’t do him any harm.
Another clean sheet –
Confident play from Alex Vitue in goal, supplemented by full backs, Alex Noakes and Josh Cummins, and centre backs Kyle Oliver and Chris Gardner
Midfield Maestros – Sam Gallagher with a man of the match display, alongside Jordan Davis, Josh Calton-Weekes and Tom Alsop
And sound support play from Joe Roberts, John Cohen and Zane Bradshaw – Oliver
The front players of Hodgson, Hodgson and Rivett caused the Weldon defence problems all day long.
Overall a great team and squad display.
Next week will be tougher when Weekley Rovers visit the lane, Connor Morson will be back for that one.
Thanks go to the players for a great attitude – no one ever wants to come off, but we have a strong squad and good team spirit.
The parents and supporters for their congratulations of the team after the game.
The referee and both assistants for keeping the game flowing.
Warriors, Hellenic, and Forest will not be sleeping so soundly knowing they have to be up against us next season.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
