Thrapston produced an outstanding first half display playing some neat passing football and were unlucky to be only 1-0 up at the break. The goal when it came was a sublime passing move with Nathan Butler picking the ball up on the left touchline in his own half. After a jinking run Butler played the ball into Joseph Wright on the left corner of the penalty area who with his back to goal squared the ball to the on running Matthew Sharpe to coolly slot home.
The start of the second half saw Weekley have more of the play with Thrapston defending stoutly. Thrapston looked comfortable until a defensive lapse let Weekley score direct from a corner.
Weekley then piled on the pressure looking for the winner. Late in the second half a poor tackle on Sam Rouwenhorst resulted in him having to leave the field and the Thrapston defence re-organised but despite an extraordinary 5 minutes of added time Thrapston held out to share the spoils.
MOM – Nathan Butler. Selfless running always posing a threat.
