Thrapston Town Blue 5 v Thrapston Town Yellow 0
A really enjoyable away match against our friends and neighbors from the Blue team.
Both teams started brightly. The yellow team pushed forward through the excellent work of Danny and Joe. However, it was the Blue team who scored mid-way through the first half. Although disappointed after their good start the Yellow team pushed on. Again, it was Joe and Danny driving us on - with support from the remainder of the team. However, it was the Blue team that scored again. An almost identical goal to their first. Again, the yellow’s responded well and were unlucky not to have a goal back when Jamie’s well struck shot narrowly sailed over the crossbar from distance.
2-0 nil down at half time.
We started the second half slowly and the Blues caught us cold with a well worked goal. In truth, the Blues had the majority of the pressure in the second half. Once again Logan was excellent in goal producing a string of fine saves. Bradley and Keenan really are forming a great defensive partnership (and starting to make sense of the coaches strange instructions!). Both players worked very hard today and had great games. Greg contributed his usual excellent game in the ‘holding role’. Without the defense the score would have been a lot worse.
Our best chance of the second half came from Callum after some excellent teamwork. A fantastic effort saw the ball narrowly miss the far post.
I asked the boys to approach this game with confidence. We know that that the Blues are a good and experienced team. I thought that we matched them in most areas. Well done boys.
