In the weeks leading up to this match I’ve was told that today’s opposition are the ‘‘best in the league’’…and…’’have not lost for 2 years’’. Sure enough, Juventus proved to be a real test…but one that the Yellow team really rose to.
Whilst the game was not all one way traffic Juventus had us under a lot of pressure. That pressure was rewarded mid way through the first half with a penalty. Much to the relief of the Yellows the shot was out wide. Having survived the first and barely 5 minutes later another penalty was awarded.
Regular readers of these reports know that I do not often single individual players out for praise…or ever award a man of the match. However, it would be wrong of me not to mention Logan’s fine save from a really well stuck penalty kick. The save drew applause from the parents and management of both teams.
Just when it looked as if we’d be 0-0 at half time we conceded following some excellent build up play by Weekly.
Although we gave away a further three goals in the second half I think it was a half that proved just how far the players have come as a team. Our defending was excellent. The guys in midfield and in strike taking every opportunity to attack the Weekly goal. I know for a fact that Juventus did not find today’s match easy.
Once again the Yellow team gave their hearts and souls for the game. They all played with the confidence that I asked from them before the game. Well done boys…you should be proud of yourselves.
