A change in system today saw us start with 1 upfront and a 5 man midfield against the unbeaten Generals, who had started the season in fine form by winning all their matches. We started positively and put the Generals under pressure and from a succession of corners Joe pounced on a loose ball to power home and put us into a deserved lead 0 - 1. In our previous meeting with the Generals this season we also went a goal in front but then let them back in very quickly, today though the players were determined that this wouldn't happen. With the midfield 5 in control we were starting to show some of our pre season form and put the Generals on the back foot. Dean on for Max, James on for Josh. The back 4 were also looking strong and were dealing well with the expected high ball. Half Time 0 - 1.
2nd Half. At the start of the 2nd half we expected an onslaught from the Generals but it never materialised. As we continue to press, gaps were beginning to appear in the Generals defence and a long shot from Harry bounced over their keeper and we went further in front 0 - 2. Now the Generals started to get their game together
and from a series of attacks pulled one back. 1 - 2. Then the turning point in the game . Dean had a great chance and their keeper made a great save pushing the ball onto the crossbar which should have resulted in a corner but a goal kick was given and a lack in concentration from us and tired legs saw the Generals grab a late and somewhat undeserved equaliser to make the final score 2 - 2.
A good performance against a very good side, Just a shame we couldn't hold on to take what would have been a deserved 3 points.
Thanks to all the parents and friends for their superb support.
