After the disappointment of only getting a draw in a game that we controlled last week against Kettering Generals, today was the 1st round of the League Cup.
With a new pitch to play on and a superb Autumnal morning we set about Weekley with great determination. Our early domination of the play was rewarded when Scott
playing on the left of midfield this week let fly and put us into a 1 - 0 lead. A few minutes later Joe made it 2 - 0 with a screamer from outside the box which flew into the net. James on for Josh. Just before the interval Max got on the score sheet with a good finish after some positive build up play, 3 - 0.Liam on for Curtis. Half time 3 - 0.
2nd half. Charlie on for Hayden. With the 2nd half only a few minutes old Max twisted and turned inside the box and hit our 4th and his 2nd to make the score 4 - 0.
With the match being played almost entirely in the Weekley half we were playing some cultured football. With the play being switched from flank to flank Weekley were chasing shadows. A hand ball inside the box saw Joe step up and give the keeper no chance from the spot and score his 2nd of the game and our 5th. 5 - 0.
Curtis on for Andrew. With Scott now switched to the right of midfield and James on the left Weekley were under immense pressure, Scott added his 2nd of the game
to make the score 6 - 0 and went on to complete his hat trick with a excellent chip to beat the defender and an unstoppable shot which screamed into the roof of the Weekley net. 7 - 0. Our 8th goal came via some great one touch build up play and a deft finish from Liam to make it 8 -0. Then another penalty award for hand ball saw Dean this time step up to the mark only for the Weekley keeper to pull off a great save. Josh on for Scott completed the goal rout from a fine solo effort and finish to make the final score. TTJFC 9 ( Nine ) Weekley 0
A big gulf between the 2 sides today but we stuck to the business of getting the job done and also kept our shape well. Well done everyone.
A massive thanks as always to the parents and friends for their fantastic support.
