On a horrible day weather wise, we were up against Hellenic for the 2nd time in a month. In our 1st encounter we ran out 2 -1 winners and were looking to continue our good form of recent weeks. If Ledley King of Spurs holds the record for the quickest goal in the premiership, one of the quickest goals of U11's football must belong to Max Jelliman! From the kick off Dean passes to Liam who rides 2 tackles and crosses for Max to put us 0 - 1 up all in about 8 seconds. Having lost the toss and playing against a fierce wind and driving rain this was the perfect start. A crunching tackle on Dean sees him replaced by Jack. Hellenic then started to make full use of the conditions and within a very short space of time we found ourselves 3 - 1 down unable to cope with the conditions. Then the start of the fightback. From some good work down the left, Max skipped past 2 defenders and slotted the ball home 3 - 2.Dean back on for Curtis. From a good spell of pressure Scott then made the fightback complete with a great finish to make the half time score 3 - 3.
2nd Half. Luke on for Kern, Andrew for Ben, James for Jack. With the very strong wind now in our favour, we came flying out the blocks but couldn't seem to judge our passing in the tough conditions, then the break through. A good ball forward from James saw Max flick the ball on to Dean who finished in style 3 - 4. With our nose's in front you would have thought it would be all one way traffic but only some good defending and one particularly good save from Luke kept us there. Curtis on for Harry. From a succession of corners Scott raced onto a loose ball inside the box and shot under the keeper to score his second and make the final score 3 - 5.
Some good performances today in terrible conditions. A real test of character today when we went 3 - 1 down, we showed everyone what we're made of with a great comeback. Well done!
Thanks to the parents and friends for their great support as always.
