With the top two teams meeting at Chancery Lane, this game was eagerly anticipated and it didn’t fail to disappoint. Both teams started the game with some tough tackles, with Earls Barton going one up after a good header from a corner. The game continued to be a little scrappy with neither side pulling out of tackles. Jedd Whiteman went close with a powerful shot that appeared to hit the Earls Barton defender, but no penalty was given. Half Time 0-1.
Thrapston started the second half well with substitute Kai Robinson going close with a shot from long range. The same player got Thrapston back into the game with a powerful header from a corner. As the first half, the game was well competed, with both teams flying into tackles. Thrapston and Earls Barton were both reduced to 10 men, following an off the ball scuffle. Thrapston kept the momentum going with Jason Styles, Josh Wesby and Jedd Whiteman all battling well. After several corners Thrapston went ahead with Jedd Whiteman scoring with a header from a corner.
Thrapston held on to the final whistle making the result 2-1. It was a tremendous effort by the entire Thrapston team, with this result Thrapston go top of the league. Man of the match – Jedd Whiteman.
