A couple of first half defensive errors saw us take our first defeat today. The starting team of Aiden, in goal, John & Dom in defense, Adam in the centre, Kyle on the left & Peter up front, was immiediately put under pressure by the Swifts. Our lads left big holes at the back & the Swifts were able to exploit them on a number of occasions. Again it was Aiden’s fantastically brave performance in goal that kept the score to a minimum. The highlight being an amazing second half penalty save that any keeper at this level would have been very proud of.
The second half subs were made with Fergus & Jake coming on for Peter & Adam. Fergus started to make a difference with good runs & great tracking back to help his defense. Some more great saves from Aiden saw him take a knock, but still got up to complete his man of the match performance. A wake up call for our lads, who didn’t really get going until the last 5 minutes. Disappointed but not disheartened, we now face a non Corby side, in the Aztec teams. Roll on next Sunday!
