After last weeks win could we go on and build from that? The answer was an emphatic yes. With some changes this week to our starting line up, our 1st half performance was very good. After surviving an early scare when Hellenic hit the post the back four of Hayden, Ben, Charlie and Joe started to take control, enabling Harry and Liam to boss the midfield and get the ball wide to Josh and Jack to run at the Hellenic defence. With Max and Dean up front starting to look the part it wasn't long before we took the lead. With the Hellenic defence under immense pressure Dean followed up on a poor clearance to head the ball over the Helllenic keeper to put us 1 - 0 up.
A few minutes later the score was 2 - 0 a pass from Dean to Max, saw Max skin the last defender and bury the ball in the back of the net. Half time 2 - 0.
2nd Half. Andrew on for Hayden and James on for Josh. As expected Hellenic came out of the blocks fired up at the start of 2nd half but our defence held firm. At the other end Dean went extremely close with a spectacular shot on the turn that shaved the woodwork. Hellenic then pulled one back to make it 2 - 1. Luke on for Jack. Even after Hellenic had scored we were still in control and kept the pressure on the Hellenic defence right until the final whistle. Final score 2 - 1.
Some good individual performances today, also we're starting to play for each other which is great to see!
