On a sunny but blustery day Thrapston were one down within 2 mins of the kickoff. (The defense I think were still turning up!!). However unlike last season the heads did not drop and shortly afterwards Thrapston were on equal terms when Luke Stevens managed to beat the defender to the ball and finished well from the edge of the box. Thrapston continued to pressure and following some great play by man of the match Matthew Smith were soon in the lead with a cross being deflected by the defender and Luke Stevens bagging his second.
Thrapston made a couple of changes at half time and with the wind at their backs were very rarely troubled. Thrapston peppered the Whitworth goal but only some off the mark shooting and two fine saves from the Whitworth keeper prevented any addition to the score. However as we entered the last 5 minutes Luke Stevens completed his hatrick when a set play corner was executed as practiced in training and the keeper had no chance as the ball flew into the net.
