Weldon Youth 2 v Thrapston Town
6
Sometimes you can play well and win games, sometimes play well and be defeated,
It is possible not to play well and either get hammered, scrape a point or win.
Or like Liverpool yesterday, you can leave your best players on the bench and throw away 2 points.
The U13’s were none of these today. The consensus post match was – played ok, with nothing outstanding but we got the points.
What good did that do to Mr Mourinho this week I ask.
Not totally true, however. Outstanding were the number of attempts on goal that Thrapston made in a second half period.
They came from everywhere and everybody, however time and time again were thwarted by post – bar – invisible forcefield on the goal line and a wish to hit the ball over from 3 yards.
The great things about today –
We shared the goals around with 6 different scorers.
We came through on an uneven pitch without any bad injuries.
Man Utd beat Chelsea 2 – 0
Fine away support from players families.
The things that could have been a little better –
Our desire to be first to the ball in the middle of the park.
Our finishing in front of goal,
Communication on the pitch
What was not good –
The cup of tea that Mrs V provided me from the Weldon kitchens. ( Trust me – don’t do it )
So – a good result, an ok performance and Thrapston U13’s maintain their 100% record for the season.
Next week we welcome Rockingham Forest to the Lane. This is sure to be a more physical encounter and we will not be doing a ‘Liverpool’.
I hope your correspondent has further good news to report next week.
