A tough midfield battle marked the first 10 mins of this
game before Peter broke the deadlock to make it 1-0. Matthew
and Jake were holding the back line well while Fergus and
Adam were tenacious in the middle trying to push the ball
through. A throw-in from midfield saw the ball bounce well
for Peter who took it forward before putting it over the
keeper and into the net from the right corner of the box.
2-0 at half time but neither team looked to dominate.
The 2nd half saw John come on for Matthew, pushing Jake up
into midfield and Tom come in for Fergus, giving us two up
front and making the game a lot more end to end.
Pressure on the Eagles from Adam put the ball through to
Peter who nabbed his hat trick.
The Eagles then got one back as we seem to go asleep at a
throw-in. Aiden got something on the ball but just not enough
to stop it going over the line, Peter’s goal line clearance
lunge coming just 6 inches too late.
More pressure from Thrapston saw Tom get the ball in the
Eagles half, beat the keeper and slot it home for a 4-1 lead.
Aiden had a lot more work to do in the 2nd half but commanded
his area well coming out to take the ball on several occasions.
An Eagles corner saw Thrapston take the ball away and launch
a rapid counter attack that Tom put through to Peter who
scored his 4th of the game.
