This match against another hard Corby team, was our hardest game so far this season. Both sides played some great youth football, only to be cancelled out by each others hard defense tactics.
With Aiden in goal, Matt & Dom in defense, Adam in the middle & Fergus & Kyle attacking we pushed hard in the first half, only to come up against the strong Ospreys defense. The Ospreys also had some good chances but they too were struggling against our defense of Matt & Dom.
The Ospreys best chance was greeted with a great high save from the ever confident Aiden. & our best chance of the first half fell to Fergus who composed himself very well to smash a shot with great power straight at the Ospreys keeper which hit him full on in the face. Great credit to the lad, who got himself back up & played on.
The second half subs were made with Tom & Peter coming on for Dom & Kyle.
Both Tom & Peter found themselves defending for a large amount of the 2nd half though, as the Ospreys pinned us back for a series of corners & throw ins that we dealt with, but just couldn’t get away.
When we did get an attack going Peter & Tom started to find space, & with Peter being put through with only the keeper to beat, a slight bobble before he struck the ball saw it go over the crossbar.
A series of corners for the Ospreys, with only seconds left saw the nerve levels of both the parents & myself reach maximum!
As the whistle blew for full time the Corby lads fell to their knee’s in disappointment, while our lads stood proud acknowledging the hard work that they had just put in.
A great game, showing me the hard work in training is paying off.
Well done lads.
